Jennelle Bichler is the Affiliate President of the National Federation of the Blind of ND and a single mother of three wonderful children and a dog. She says “you mustn’t forget the dog, who is a child just as the rest maybe a little lazier though.” Miss Bichler, was born sighted, however, in the early part of 2005 she went from 20/20 vision to totally blind within three months. After going blind Miss Bichler attended Blind Inc. a National Federation of the Blind (NFB) training center in Minneapolis Minnesota and graduated in November 2006. She has been a member of the NFB since mid 2006 and was elected affiliate president in April of 2007. Miss Bichler has volunteered her time and effort educating, advocating, and promoting independence in the community around her. Miss Bichler says she will continue educating, advocating, and promoting independence in the community even if only one person is listening. Miss Bichler says “My dream is to help people no matter how many there are. If I help one child, adult or senior learn that blindness is not the end of a life, but the beginning of a new world, then I have accomplished my goal.”
